First Character Model + First Rig

Today I have finally managed to create a character model and rig it using Maya's "Quick Rig" functions.

It's a very basic model, but it is also my first one. For this project it will do, but I fully plan of further developing my skills and making much better models in the future.

I also used a reference for the character, as seen below, to help with designing it.

Cauldron Prop + Textured

Below is my fully textured Cauldron prop. It is the same cauldron that will be used as the goo obstacle as mentioned in a previous blog post.

Textured Props

Using the props from my last game, I have now gone through and properly textured all of them using Substance Painter. Some of the textures look untextured such as the rings on the barrels, and I am unsure why this is, but it still has a metal shine effect to it when light is cast on it.

You can see these updated props below.

Camera Code

This is the code I have used for the camera within my game. It is a third person camera.

Character Movement Code

Below is all of the code I am using for making the character move.

Some of the code in the second image ties into a separate code file for camera movement which will be in a different post after this one.

Enemy Update

As it stands, I have plans to incorporate a moving enemy in the game (see previous post). However, I don't actually know how to create such a thing.

I may either have to scrap the idea entirely or simply make it very very simple. However I still plan on having the cauldron obstacle.

Another Obstacle idea: The master of the tower themself.

The objective of the game is to steal a piece of chocolate from the master of the tower, so the person in question actually existing could be potential for adding a new mechanic and obstacle.

For example, a detection system. Having to get to the piece of chocolate without being seen by them like stepping into their cone of vision, or else you fail.

Below is a quick idea I drew up.

Textured Crate model

I know it looks bad that I'm posting about texturing a crate now, but I made, UVed and textured this in the span of about 20 minutes. A...
